FAQ

Q – What is the correct way to measure a chair for sling fabric?

A – Take a fabric measuring tape and measure tightly across from one outside channel to the other outside channel of the chair or chaise frame at the top, middle and bottom. Take the average.

For the length, measure the fabric alongside the chair rail from top to bottom for the most accurate result. Mailed slings are non-refundable.

Q – Is it worth it to repair my furniture?

A – This is the most commonly asked question and not always the easiest to answer. Generally if your furniture is of good or high quality, in good shape, and you like it, it’s worth fixing or repairing. In some cases, the cost of refurbishing a piece of furniture will exceed the cost of new if it is an inexpensive piece. In that case, it’s probably not worth it unless you want to maintain the whole set. We are typically repairing and refurbishing dining chairs that can cost over $200-$300 to replace.

Q – What does it cost?

A – The cost to repair or refinish any one piece can widely vary depending on the set of furniture. As a rule of thumb, completely refurbishing a piece of furniture is usually half the cost of new when the piece is high quality.

Here is a pricing chart as a general rough guide. The actual cost of your set/piece will depend on many things such as the type of piece you have, the size, complexity, the fabric you choose etc. Once we see your furniture and materials are chosen, exact costs can be given.

Chair Channel Slings: $140 and up, installed

Chaise Channel Slings: $180 and up, installed

Strap Chairs: $160 and up

Umbrella Cords: $60-$120 (cantilever extra)

Chair Frame Refinishing: $195 and up

Q – Do you do touch ups?

A – Generally no. We only offer complete frame refinishing, but would be happy to help you with suggestions for doing touch-ups yourself.

Q – Can I install the slings myself?

A – In most cases, slings are fairly straight forward to install, but special tools are required, like the 24″ reverse clamp-spreader below. We will do our best to assist you and will offer a discount on the sling price if you choose to install them yourself.

Q – Do you pick up and deliver?

A – Yes! Pick up or delivery can be arranged if needed. Costs are dependent on location. Example: City of Toronto is $80 for pick-up OR delivery.

Q – Do you offer a warranty/guarantee?

A – Yes. Warranties for workmanship and materials vary depending on what is done and in some cases will exceed original manufacturer’s warranties.

Seating material replacement (strap or fabric sling): 2 years *on stitching or installation

Frame refinishing: 5 years *we do not guarantee against rust on wrought iron or steel items

Umbrella repairs: 90 days

Welding: 5 years

Q – How do I clean my furniture?

A – There are various ways you can clean and care for your set. Pressure washing can be very effective, but be careful not to get too close with high pressure water. Otherwise a soap and water solution or water and bleach can be used to clean frames and fabrics. As well there are specific outdoor furniture cleaners available that do a good job. It is always important to check manufacturer’s directions when cleaning outdoor furniture.

Q – Can you match my fabric?

A – Certain fabrics from some manufacturers may still be available. We will do our best to source your original fabric, but in most cases, you will have to choose a new fabric. See the fabric page of our website for selections.

Q – Will you take away old furniture that will end up in the garbage?

A – Patio Chair Rx wants to reduce what ends up in the land fill. Send us a photo of your old set and we will consider taking it off your hands for free.

Q – How long does the work take?

A – The time needed to complete a job varies depending on what’s required. Generally seating material replacement is 3-4 weeks depending on its complexity. Frame refinishing is 5-6 weeks. These times may be longer especially during the summer months. An approximate timeline will be confirmed when you place your work order, but is subject to change.
